If you need to design a ghost character, you have practically no limits, because there are no standards for the appearance of a ghost.
There are typical banal images, and not quite a standard solution for the needs of a specific project. We will come up with two types of ghosts:
- ghost – an abstract spirit in a cartoon style
- ghost – the spirit of some person.
As a result, we will have a fun company of ghost characters.
So – we start from simple shapes, very different, since there are no rules in the design of ghosts. We fit our characters into these forms, looking for a suitable solution. Add light and dark spots and refine the details.
If we look at the silhouettes, we can appreciate how successful the design is, and whether it is clear that these are silhouettes of ghosts. The absence of a fulcrum, the instability of postures and forms, helps to believe that this is a silunt of a ghost, and not a person or an object.
Next, we select the 1st character and draw him in different poses and emotional states.
We draw the character in color.
It was difficult for me to choose only one character, because they are so different. I decided to work out a few more characters in more detail. As a result, I have a group of ghosts that complement each other in a great way.
The process of creating these characters can be seen in this short video:
Thank you for your attention 🙂
